More silliness that we see in this US society that's losing its ability to produce real value. This kind of energy-wasting junk corporatism will diminish greatly when the US dollar loses its pre-eminent reserve status. When that happens, all the money-hungry schemers will have to get real jobs. A real job is one that produces something the rest of the world will trade their hard-earned money for. A real job is not a job that relies on the current ability of the US government to manufacture "money" from nothing and whose value is based on a belief that the US government will continue to dominate the world's financial markets. A real job doesn't keep afloat by virtue of a bubble that keeps growing beyond its ability to exist. The bigger the bubble, the bigger the "bang" when it bursts.

I think that for practical purposes the result is bound to be inferior to direct comparison, especially the "best to worst" list. If two best contenders happen to meet in the first round, the second-best will end up in the last place of this list. Also from the point of view of assessing the results this approach would be very problematic. I see no benefits (apart from spectacularity).
The Playoff method brings a sense of transparency into the decision making process of an AI system but my question is -does it make a better choice rather than just asking directly for the response. I don't see the benefit for a "better" response over trusting the machine's response to Generate the best name for ...
