New KILLER ChatGPT Prompt — The “Playoff Method”
Super powerful prompt for ChatGPT — 01 Preview
OpenAI has completely changed the game with 01-preview (aka. their “thinking” model.
Most people have no idea how to take advantage of it and are still using the same types of prompts that they’ve always used.
They are wasting the ability of this new and powerful model.
The prompt I’m going to show you is very helpful.
Please pay careful attention to the type of thinking I’m using to generate this prompt so that you can think of your own “super” prompts.
One popular thing that you can use ChatGPT for is the ability to brainstorm.
Even the old models allow you to generate lists.
But 01-preview can actually do a lot of processing and “thinking” with this list.

The “Playoff” Prompting Method
The basic idea of the “playoff prompt” is to get ChatGPT to create a list of possible answers and then have all the answers compete against each other in a tournament.
Then the final winner is chosen and all of the answers are shown in a list from best to worst.
Here is a real example of this “playoff” prompt in action:
We just launched an AI podcast about how to use AI to grow your online presence and earn money online.
YouTube: AI Growth Hacking Podcast
Spotify: AI Growth Hacking Podcast
Before we named this, we could have used this playoff prompting method.
The idea is to get ChatGPT to brainstorm a list of 32 potential names for this podcast.
Then ChatGPT would pair these names into 16 pairs of 2 and make them playoff against each other.
The winner of each would go to the next round.
The process repeats until a final winner is chosen.
In order to help me design this prompt, I used GPT-4o to explain the basics of what I wanted. I got it to create me a super prompt I could use for this playoff concept.
Here is the prompt that GPT-4o gave me to use:
You are tasked with naming a new podcast.
This podcast will focus on using AI to grow a business and earn money online.
You will use a “playoff” method to find the best name for this podcast.
Follow these steps carefully:
Step 1: Generate Names Create a list of 32 distinct names for the podcast. Each name should reflect the topic of using AI for business growth and making money online. Be creative, but make sure the names are clear, catchy, and relevant to the theme.
Step 2: The Playoff Rounds Round of 32: Pair the 32 names into 16 matchups (pairs). Compare each pair and choose a winner based on: How memorable and catchy the name is. How well the name reflects the podcast’s theme (AI, business growth, and earning money online). Other relevant qualities, such as creativity and uniqueness.
Round of 16: Take the 16 winners from the first round and pair them into 8 matchups. Compare each pair, select a winner, and explain your reasoning.
Quarterfinals: Take the 8 remaining names and form 4 matchups. Again, compare each pair, choose winners, and provide reasoning.
Semifinals: Compare the 4 remaining names in 2 matchups. Select the best name from each pair with reasoning.
Final Round: Compare the final 2 names. Choose the overall best name based on how well it represents the podcast’s goals, its catchiness, and other factors. Provide a detailed explanation for why this name stands out as the best.
Step 3: The Final Output At the end of this playoff process, present: The complete list of the original 32 names, ranked from best to worst, in order. The final chosen name (the top-ranked name). A detailed explanation for why the final name was selected as the best out of all 32.

Memorability and Catchiness: The alliteration in “Revenue Revolution” makes the name catchy and easy to remember. It grabs attention and is likely to stand out among other podcast names.
Theme Representation: The name perfectly encapsulates the podcast’s focus on using AI to grow a business and earn money online. It suggests transformative strategies and groundbreaking methods in revenue generation through AI.
Impact and Appeal: The word “Revolution” conveys excitement, innovation, and a shift from traditional methods. It appeals to entrepreneurs and business owners who are looking for cutting-edge solutions to boost their income.
Uniqueness and Creativity: Among all the names, “AI Revenue Revolution” is distinctive and suggests a bold approach. It combines the core elements of AI and revenue in a way that promises significant value to the listener.
Clarity: The name clearly communicates the podcast’s content without being overly complex. Potential listeners can immediately understand that the podcast will cover revolutionary AI strategies for increasing revenue.
Note: I already chose the name of our podcast before doing this exercise. I just wanted to point out that this is a perfect time to use this type of prompt.
Conclusion:
I think this type of prompt is a great way to get the most out of ChatGPT.
Most people would just get it to create the list.
But it is nice to have the list ordered, and see which it thinks is the best, and the reasoning behind it.
Bonus tip:
You could even take the top 10 results, and ask ChatGPT to make another list of 32 (or 64) or whatever number of suggestions based on that list, and have those compete in a playoff format to get the best one.

More silliness that we see in this US society that's losing its ability to produce real value. This kind of energy-wasting junk corporatism will diminish greatly when the US dollar loses its pre-eminent reserve status. When that happens, all the money-hungry schemers will have to get real jobs. A real job is one that produces something the rest of the world will trade their hard-earned money for. A real job is not a job that relies on the current ability of the US government to manufacture "money" from nothing and whose value is based on a belief that the US government will continue to dominate the world's financial markets. A real job doesn't keep afloat by virtue of a bubble that keeps growing beyond its ability to exist. The bigger the bubble, the bigger the "bang" when it bursts.
